LEOPARD FIST NINJA

Cinemavixion Review

A quintessential example of Godfrey Ho's prolific output, "Leopard Fist Ninja" (or "The Leopard Fist Ninja" as it is also known) plunges viewers into a classic martial arts revenge narrative. Released in 1982, the film follows a lone warrior, Leopard Fist, whose life is irrevocably altered by the murder of his parents at the hands of the nefarious King Kong. Driven by an unyielding quest for vengeance, Leopard Fist embarks on a rigorous journey of self-improvement, eventually mastering the titular leopard style of kung fu under the tutelage of an old master. This newfound prowess grants him extraordinary strength and agility, preparing him for the inevitable confrontation. The film excels in its straightforward depiction of martial arts action and the archetypal hero's journey, offering a gritty yet compelling tale of retribution that resonates with fans of the genre. While perhaps not a critical darling, its dedication to the core tenets of the revenge plot and its energetic fight sequences make it a noteworthy entry in 80s Hong Kong action cinema.
