LAST SUMMER

Cinemavixion Review

The 2013 Thai film 'Last Summer' delves into the unsettling aftermath of a tragic event, exploring themes of grief, guilt, and the lingering presence of the departed. The narrative centers on Ajoy, a public figure whose social media post about wanting to die triggers a chain of events. A devoted friend, Singh, embarks on a mission to comfort her, joined by another companion. Their excursion to the sea, initially intended as a moment of solace, transforms into a nightmare when Joy dies, her spirit subsequently haunting her loved ones. The film attempts to convey a message that Joy desperately tries to communicate, but her pleas go unheard by those she left behind. This poignant story, directed by Saranyoo Jiralak, Sitisiri Mongkolsiri, and Kittithat Tangsirikit, features performances from Sutatta Udomsilp, Ekawat Ekudchariya, and Jirayu La-ongmanee, weaving a tale of psychological distress and unresolved emotional burdens.
