Cinemavixion Review

Gregory Gieras's 2001 thriller, "Dark Asylum," plunges viewers into the claustrophobic confines of a high-security psychiatric facility where Dr. Maggie Belham (Paulina Porizkova) finds herself in a desperate fight for survival. Tasked with evaluating the disfigured yet cunning serial killer known only as the Trasher (Larry Drake), Belham's professional assessment quickly devolves into a terrifying ordeal when the Trasher escapes, trapping her within the asylum's labyrinthine corridors. Aided by a mysterious janitor, Quitz, whose own sanity is questionable, Belham must outwit her captor in a tense game of cat and mouse. While the film may not have garnered widespread critical acclaim, its effective use of suspense and its exploration of psychological terror within a confined setting offer a chilling experience for fans of the genre. Judd Nelson also features in the cast, adding to the film's ensemble of familiar faces.
