LARRY SEMON: THE SHOW

Cinemavixion Review

Larry Semon, a once-prominent comedian of the silent film era, is the subject of this retrospective. Though his name may not resonate with modern audiences as strongly as Chaplin's or Keaton's, Semon was a significant comedic force in his time. His influence is notably felt through his collaborations with emerging talents Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, who would later form one of cinema's most iconic duos. Semon's directorial and acting work on the 1925 silent film 'The Wizard of Oz' is also a point of historical interest, reportedly leaving a subtle mark on the more famous 1939 MGM adaptation. This compilation, 'Larry Semon: The Show,' offers a glimpse into the work of a comedian whose legacy is intertwined with the development of film comedy and the careers of legendary performers.
