KEPLER'S DREAM

Cinemavixion Review

Amy Glazer's 'Kepler's Dream' offers a poignant exploration of family, resilience, and the unexpected discoveries that can arise from challenging circumstances. Set against the stark beauty of a New Mexico ranch, the film centers on young Ella, whose summer becomes a crucible of emotional growth. Isabella Blake-Thomas delivers a compelling performance as Ella, navigating the complexities of her mother's illness and a strained relationship with her father, portrayed with nuanced weariness by Sean Patrick Flanery. Holland Taylor commands the screen as the formidable grandmother, Violet. The narrative skillfully weaves a mystery surrounding a stolen book with Ella's personal journey of understanding and acceptance. While the film earned a modest 56% on Rotten Tomatoes and garnered one nomination, its strength lies in its heartfelt storytelling and the mature themes it tackles for a family-oriented drama, supported by a solid cast and a sensitive direction that underscores the emotional arc of its characters.
