Jean Yarbrough's "Jack and the Beanstalk" offers a whimsical, albeit divisive, comedic reimagining of the classic fairy tale, starring the legendary duo Abbott and Costello. Lou Costello steps into the titular role of Jack, trading the family cow for a handful of magic beans, a decision that predictably leads to an adventure of colossal proportions. Bud Abbott provides his signature straight-man commentary as Jack's guardian, Mr. Dinkle. The film is further enlivened by the physical presence of former heavyweight boxer Buddy Baer as the formidable giant and the distinctive vocal talents of Mel Blanc, the voice behind iconic Looney Tunes characters, lending his magic to the animated animals and a rather chatty harp.
