INTERSTATES

Cinemavixion Review

In "Interstates," director Corey Onerheim crafts a compelling, albeit low-key, narrative that explores themes of freedom and friendship against the backdrop of a surveillance-heavy America. Released in 2016, the film stars Aaron Smargon and Onerheim himself as an unlikely duo—an escapist hacker and his tech-savvy companion—navigating treacherous digital and physical frontiers. The plot, which centers on their journey across a fragmented nation, serves as a potent metaphor for the struggle for independence in an increasingly monitored world. While the film may not boast widespread critical acclaim or box office success, its introspective look at the human cost of technological advancement and the bonds that sustain us makes it a thought-provoking watch for fans of independent sci-fi.
