HOUSE RED

Cinemavixion Review

Coz Greenop's 'House Red' plunges viewers into the sun-drenched, yet sinister, landscape of an Italian vineyard. The narrative follows a couple seeking a serene summer of grape-picking, only to uncover unsettling secrets woven into the very soil of the estate. Natasha Henstridge and Clara Paget anchor the film, their performances imbued with a growing sense of unease as the idyllic setting reveals a darker, more menacing side. Greenop masterfully builds atmospheric tension, contrasting the vibrant beauty of the Italian countryside with a creeping dread that suggests the terroir holds more than just grapes. While the film garnered some critical attention with a win and two nominations, its true power lies in its slow-burn suspense and the unsettling exploration of hidden dangers lurking beneath a picturesque surface. 'House Red' offers a compelling, albeit chilling, escape into a world where the earth itself seems to hold its breath.
