HEADING FOR HEAVEN

Cinemavixion Review

Lewis D. Collins's 1947 comedy, "Heading for Heaven," stars Stuart Erwin as a small-town real estate agent whose seemingly worthless properties are suddenly poised to become prime real estate due to an impending airport development. Unbeknownst to Erwin, his fortunes are about to change drastically. The plot thickens as he falls prey to an unscrupulous swami, played by Russ Vincent, and his conniving business partner. Convinced his days are numbered, Erwin's life spirals into chaos, leading him to abandon his home and family. Erwin's performance anchors this tale of unexpected opportunity and misguided fears, with supporting turns from Glenda Farrell and Irene Ryan adding to the ensemble's charm. While perhaps not a landmark film, "Heading for Heaven" offers a diverting look at how perceived impending doom can mask incredible fortune, all within a brisk 65-minute runtime.
