A relic of 1960s creature features, 'Gorgo' delivers a charmingly earnest slice of kaiju chaos. The narrative, set against the backdrop of London, follows the capture of a juvenile prehistoric beast and the inevitable, colossal rampage of its mother in pursuit. Director Eugène Lourié crafts a spectacle that, while perhaps lacking the grandiosity of its Japanese counterparts, possesses a unique British charm and a surprisingly poignant undertone regarding the exploitation of nature.
