GOOD OL GIRL

Cinemavixion Review

Sarah Brennan Kolb's "Good Ol Girl" offers a compelling and timely look at the evolving landscape of the American West, specifically through the eyes of three young cowgirls in Texas. The documentary delves into the complex intersection of tradition, legacy, and modernity, challenging the entrenched male cowboy mythology with a nuanced and honest female narrative. As the film poignantly illustrates, the weight of heritage falls upon shoulders previously overlooked, prompting a vital question: who truly holds the authority to carry on traditions when the old guard fades? Kolb's intimate portrayal captures the vastness of the Texas ranchlands, serving as a powerful backdrop to the personal journeys of these women navigating a world that demands they redefine its very essence. "Good Ol Girl" is a significant exploration of identity and resilience in a rapidly changing cultural frontier.
