FREDDIE AND THE YULETIDE DOLL

Cinemavixion Review

This charming 1961 television special, 'Freddie And The Yuletide Doll,' offers a poignant if somewhat unconventional take on the holiday season. Starring Red Skelton as Freddie the Freeloader, the narrative centers on his solitary Christmas Eve. His world brightens with the discovery of a Raggedy Ann doll, which, in a touch of magical realism, comes to life. The ensuing moments depict Freddie finding companionship and a surprising sense of romance with his animated playmate. While perhaps not a traditional holiday tale, it explores themes of loneliness and the human desire for connection, even in the most unexpected forms. The simple premise, elevated by Skelton's performance, provides a sweet and memorable viewing experience, particularly for those seeking a different kind of festive story.
