In 'Followers: Cassette', director Marcus Harben crafts a modern horror narrative centered on the perils of social media fame. The film follows a struggling influencer whose life takes a supernatural turn when his home reveals a ghostly presence. This spectral entity, far from being a mere nuisance, becomes an unlikely benefactor, bestowing fame and fortune upon the influencer and his circle. However, as the adage goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and Harben deftly explores the dark underbelly of ambition, where every gain comes with a potentially fatal price. Rhys Yates leads the cast, embodying the desperate climb for online relevance, supported by Nina Wadia and David Sterne. The film serves as a cautionary tale, questioning the true cost of visibility in the digital age and the sacrifices one is willing to make for fleeting notoriety.
