ESCAPE ROOM: QUEST OF FEAR

Cinemavixion Review

Andrea Marfori's "Escape Room: Quest of Fear" plunges audiences into a chilling Halloween night where a group of friends find their festive celebration devolving into a deadly game. What begins as an adventurous quest quickly transforms into a desperate fight for survival, as the line between sport and murder blurs. The narrative skillfully explores the escalating terror and paranoia as the players realize escaping the enigmatic scenario is far more perilous than entering it. The film, released in 2018, features a cast including Anna Abonisimova, Mikhail Avstreykh, and Denis Bayandurov, who navigate the escalating dread with palpable fear. While the premise of an escape room turning lethal is a familiar trope, "Escape Room: Quest of Fear" attempts to add its own brand of suspense, questioning who is orchestrating this macabre game and whether any of the participants can truly escape its clutches. For fans of psychological thrillers and horror, this Italian-Russian production offers a tense, albeit grim, cinematic experience.
