DEAD MAN TELLS HIS OWN TALE

Cinemavixion Review

Fabián Forte's "Dead Man Tells His Own Tale" (2016) plunges into a dark, supernatural realm where a womanizing man's infidelity becomes the catalyst for his descent into a terrifying matriarchal plot. The film, starring Diego Gentile, Mariana Anghileri, and Emilia Attías, presents a compelling, albeit grim, narrative. Angel, a man whose life is a tapestry of deceit woven through his numerous affairs and his family obligations, finds his world turned upside down when he becomes entangled with a sisterhood of Celtic goddesses. These ancient beings, intent on establishing a universal matriarchy, wield their power over men who have wronged the female gender, turning Angel into a pawn in their grand, sinister design. The story unfolds as a personal calvary for Angel, highlighting the consequences of his actions in a uniquely supernatural context. While the film garnered one nomination, its blend of horror, fantasy, and dark comedy offers a thought-provoking, if unsettling, exploration of gender dynamics and retribution. It's a descent into a world where ancient powers and modern vices collide with devastating effect.
