CYBORGS AMONG US

Cinemavixion Review

In "Cyborgs Among Us" (2017), director Rafel Duran Torrent delves into the nascent world of human augmentation, exploring the profound implications of technology's increasing integration with our bodies. The documentary, featuring Alex Warner, Harry Asada, and Max Ortiz Catalan, offers a compelling look at individuals who are already pushing the boundaries of human limitations through do-it-yourself modifications, often in unconventional settings. The film thoughtfully contrasts these pioneering, albeit fringe, enthusiasts with advancements in medical technology, raising critical questions about the future of humanity. Torrent navigates the complex social and ethical dilemmas that will inevitably arise as the line between human and machine blurs, presenting a vision that is both fascinating and thought-provoking. While the documentary itself may not have garnered major awards, it serves as a crucial primer for understanding a technological trajectory that is rapidly becoming our reality.
