CULT GIRLS

Cinemavixion Review

Mark Bakaitis's 2019 film "Cult Girls" plunges viewers into a dark, unsettling narrative centered on Dalia, who escapes a pagan apocalyptic cult only to be haunted by the fate of her two younger sisters. The film masterfully intertwines themes of guilt, obsession, and a descent into the infernal. Dalia's quest to reunite with her siblings leads her to a reclusive black metal artist, a journey that promises not redemption but a harrowing exploration of her past. While the film garnered 1 win and 1 nomination, its IMDb rating of 2.9 suggests a polarizing reception, indicating it may be a challenging yet potentially rewarding watch for those drawn to its intense, genre-bending subject matter. The Australian production, starring Saara Lamberg, Jane Badler, and Dean Kirkright, offers a grim, atmospheric dive into the psychological aftermath of extreme belief systems.
