CONJURING THE DEAD

Cinemavixion Review

Andrew Jones's "Conjuring the Dead" crafts a palpable atmosphere of dread, drawing clear parallels to the unsettling folk horror of "The Wicker Man" and the gothic chills of "The Woman in Black." The film excels in its slow-burn suspense, immersing the viewer in a secluded village steeped in eerie traditions and a history of unexplained disappearances. As the protagonist attempts to forge a new beginning, she finds herself ensnared in a narrative where folklore and the supernatural intertwine with devastating consequences. The escalating body count and the resurfacing of the village's dark past create a compelling psychological ghost story. "Conjuring the Dead" is a masterclass in building tension, exploring how unresolved trauma and ancient legends can manifest into something truly terrifying, ensuring that the past's grip is inescapable.
