COME OUT AND PLAY

Cinemavixion Review

Makinov's "Come Out and Play" plunges viewers into a disquieting scenario that masterfully blends the idyllic with the horrific. Set on a remote island, the film follows a pregnant couple whose last vacation before parenthood takes a terrifying turn. Their initial observation of an unsettling lack of adults, contrasted with an abundance of children, quickly escalates into a nightmarish struggle for survival. The film excels in building a palpable sense of dread, questioning the innocence of childhood when twisted into something sinister. While the external data notes a mixed critical reception, with a Metascore of 44 and an IMDb rating of 4.7, its unsettling premise and atmospheric tension make it a compelling, albeit grim, watch for fans of psychological horror. The performances by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Vinessa Shaw anchor the escalating terror, making their plight feel all too real amidst the island's deceptive beauty.
