BUFFALO BILL

Cinemavixion Review

William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody leaps from the annals of American folklore onto the silver screen in this grand Technicolor spectacle. The film masterfully chronicles the metamorphosis of a legendary frontiersman into the world's most famous showman, capturing both the rugged spirit of the West and the dazzling allure of his "Wild West Show." Directed by William A. Wellman, the narrative weaves a compelling biography, highlighting Cody's complex relationship with the land and its indigenous peoples, and his eventual rise to international fame. Joel McCrea embodies the iconic figure with gravitas, supported by a capable cast. While fictionalized, the film retains an epic scope, vividly portraying stampedes and arena performances with the lavish style characteristic of classic Hollywood. It's a journey into the heart of a legend, exploring how the myth of the West was not just lived, but also artfully crafted for the world stage.
