DOLLAR FOR THE DEAD

Cinemavixion Review

Gene Quintano's "Dollar for the Dead" plunges viewers into a sun-baked Western landscape, offering a spirited tribute to the spaghetti Western genre. Emilio Estevez embodies the enigmatic gunslinger, a figure burdened by a past that literally returns him from the grave, now pursued for a legendary Confederate gold bounty. The film skillfully weaves a narrative of survival against a relentless tide of bounty hunters, outlaws, and soldiers, showcasing Estevez's charisma in classic Western showdowns. Supported by a robust cast including William Forsythe, the film delivers thrilling action sequences and a compelling quest for riches. While perhaps not reaching the iconic status of its cinematic forebears, "Dollar for the Dead" stands as an entertaining and well-crafted entry into the Western canon, proving that some men, and some stories, are indeed harder to kill than others.
