BOYNE FALLS

Cinemavixion Review

Steve Kopera's "Boyne Falls" plunges viewers into a tense survival thriller where a mandatory team-building retreat spirals into a desperate fight for life. The film, released in 2018, centers on two coworkers, whose strained relationship is tested to its absolute limit when they stumble upon an illegal meth lab deep within the forest. What begins as an awkward corporate exercise rapidly devolves into a harrowing ordeal as they become the targets of ruthless criminals. The narrative effectively uses the isolated, unforgiving wilderness as a character in itself, amplifying the protagonists' vulnerability. Performances from Axel Harney, Mike Kopera, and Juan Monsalvez anchor the escalating dread, navigating the fine line between animosity and the primal instinct to survive. While the film may not boast widespread critical acclaim, its tight pacing and suspenseful premise offer a compelling, albeit grim, exploration of human resilience under extreme duress. "Boyne Falls" is a gritty reminder that sometimes the greatest threats lie hidden, and survival depends on forging unlikely alliances when all else fails.
