BEYOND THE NORTH WOODS

Cinemavixion Review

In "Beyond the North Woods," director Lance Todd crafts a suspenseful, albeit brief, descent into psychological horror. The film centers on a contemporary influencer, whose obnoxious persona serves as a stark contrast to the eerie, disorienting environment of northern Minnesota's woods. As the protagonist embarks on filming a video, he and his companions stumble upon a sinister, time-bending threat that blurs the lines of reality and sanity. While the external data points to a 2022 release and a runtime of 67 minutes, the plot summary from the local data effectively captures the core premise: an influencer's quest for content leads him into a terrifying encounter with the unknown. The film's strength lies in its atmospheric tension and its commentary on the often-superficial world of online personas confronting primal fear. Despite its modest IMDb rating, "Beyond the North Woods" offers a compelling, contained horror experience that fans of isolated thrillers might find engaging.
