BEYOND THE NEON

Cinemavixion Review

Larry A. McLean's "Beyond the Neon" plunges viewers into the morally ambiguous world of viral content creation, set against the glittering, yet sinister, backdrop of Las Vegas. The film follows a controversial YouTuber and his crew as they embark on a dangerous social experiment: faking a kidnapping for online clout. However, their reckless pursuit of views takes a sharp and terrifying turn when they inadvertently capture evidence of a genuine human trafficking operation. What begins as a cynical stunt for clicks quickly escalates into a desperate struggle for survival. The narrative masterfully shifts gears from a critique of online sensationalism to a gripping thriller, as the crew finds themselves hunted by a ruthless criminal syndicate. The cameras that were meant to exploit become their only tools for exposing the dark truth and, hopefully, escaping the neon-lit labyrinth alive. "Beyond the Neon" is a taut, suspenseful film that effectively uses its Las Vegas setting to highlight the stark contrast between manufactured reality and brutal truth, offering a chilling commentary on the lengths people will go for fame and the unforeseen consequences that can arise from such hubris. With a runtime of 87 minutes and a solid 6.2 rating on IMDb, this film is a compelling watch for those intrigued by crime thrillers with a modern, cautionary edge.
