BEHIND PUTIN & RUSSIA'S WEALTHIEST ELITES

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the opulent and often controversial world of Russia's wealthiest elites, the oligarchs, whose extravagant lifestyles have been thrust into the global spotlight by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. It meticulously explores the intricate relationship between these powerful businessmen and Vladimir Putin, illustrating how he has leveraged his authority to control and, at times, intimidate them. The film sheds light on the origins of their immense fortunes, tracing a path from the post-Soviet era's economic upheaval to the present-day reality of mega-yachts, sprawling estates, and significant global influence. Figures like Roman Abramovich are highlighted as archetypes of this elite class, their success intertwined with political maneuvering. The narrative also touches upon accusations of foreign interference linked to close Putin allies, painting a picture of wealth intertwined with geopolitical strategy. As Western sanctions tighten, the film poses critical questions about the future of this entrenched power structure and its impact on both Russia and the international stage.
