BEEPER AKA MUMBAI HUSTLE

Cinemavixion Review

Jack Sholder's 'Beeper', also known as 'Mumbai Hustle', presents a taut thriller centered on a desperate father's race against time. When his son is abducted, the only means of communication with the perpetrators is a beeper, an anachronistic device that heightens the tension. The narrative cleverly forces an unlikely alliance between the protagonist, a doctor, and a morally ambiguous duo: a drug dealer and a cunning woman. Harvey Keitel and Joey Lauren Adams anchor the film with performances that navigate the complex emotional landscape of fear, determination, and moral compromise. Sholder masterfully builds suspense, utilizing the constraints of the beeper to amplify the psychological stakes, making for a compelling, albeit unconventional, rescue mission.
