ASTRAEA

Cinemavixion Review

Kristjan Thor's 2015 film 'Astraea' presents a compelling post-apocalyptic narrative centered on a telepathic teenager's arduous journey. The film, starring Scotty Crowe, Jessica Cummings, and Nerea Duhart, follows Astraea as she navigates a desolate America, guided by her visions to find her family and rebuild a semblance of life. The plot deepens as she ventures into a harsh, snowy wilderness, where her psychic abilities intensify, forcing her to confront both external dangers and internal conflicts about her destiny. Praised for its atmospheric storytelling and the central performance, 'Astraea' offers a poignant exploration of hope, resilience, and the complex nature of inherited gifts in a world reshaped by disaster. Its critical reception, including a notable 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, underscores its impact as a thoughtful addition to the genre.
