AND THEN THERE WERE EIGHT...

Cinemavixion Review

Ferdinando Baldi's "And Then There Were Eight..." plunges into the shadowy world of the Italian Giallo, masterfully adapting the suspenseful structure of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None." The narrative centers on nine members of a wealthy, fractious family convened for an island getaway hosted by the patriarch, Ubaldo, portrayed by Arthur Kennedy. Beneath the veneer of familial obligation lie simmering resentments, avarice over inheritance, and clandestine affairs, creating a palpable tension that permeates the isolated setting. This delicate equilibrium shatters when a tempest isolates the island, and the guests become targets of increasingly macabre and perplexing murders. As the body count rises, paranoia grips the survivors, who are forced to confront the chilling realization that the perpetrator lurks among them. The film skillfully unravels the mystery, posing the compelling question: who among them harbors the deadly secret, and what dark truth binds the victims together?
