AMERICA’S BROKEN DREAMS

Cinemavixion Review

In "America's Broken Dreams," the year 2012 marked a profound examination of the lingering economic devastation following the 2008 crisis, particularly its impact on the American middle class. This powerful documentary eschews broad economic analysis for an intimate, unflinching look at families stripped of their stability. Through compelling narratives like Larry's, a former manager now working a low-wage job at Disney World, and Terry's, whose children were removed due to economic hardship, the film lays bare the human cost of financial collapse. The filmmakers spent six months immersed in the lives of these families, capturing not only their fear and desperation but also their remarkable resilience. "America's Broken Dreams" serves as a stark reminder of the silent struggles endured by many, highlighting the erosion of the middle-class dream in the shadow of supposed prosperity.
