AFRICA RISING

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary, "Africa Rising," presents a compelling and often critical look at development in Ethiopia, challenging Western perceptions and aid policies. Shot in high definition, the film offers an intimate view of a rural region actively working to lift itself out of poverty, showcasing the agency and ingenuity of its inhabitants. It contrasts the successes of local initiatives with the perceived failures of international intervention, posing a provocative question about the future of aid on the continent. The narrative is built around a cast of thousands, reflecting the scale of the transformation depicted. While the film is uplifting in its portrayal of self-sufficiency, it doesn't shy away from the controversial aspects of its critique, making it a thought-provoking watch that encourages a reevaluation of global development strategies.
