A SMALL FORTUNE

Cinemavixion Review

Adam Perry's 'A Small Fortune' plunges viewers into the stark beauty and moral complexities of a Prince Edward Island fishing village. The narrative, driven by a compelling premise, explores the corrosive effect of sudden wealth on a tight-knit community. When a local fisherman stumbles upon a substantial sum of lost money, his attempt to conceal this windfall unravels into a tense crime thriller. Stephen Oates delivers a nuanced performance as the conflicted protagonist, grappling with greed and the escalating consequences. Liane Balaban provides crucial support, anchoring the film's emotional core. Perry masterfully uses the picturesque setting not just as a backdrop, but as a character in itself, amplifying the isolation and mounting paranoia. While the film garnered 1 win and a 5.1 rating on IMDb, its true strength lies in its exploration of how a single secret can fracture the foundations of trust and decency within a seemingly idyllic locale. It's a thoughtful examination of human nature under pressure.
