A DOGGONE CHRISTMAS

Cinemavixion Review

Jim Wynorski's "A Doggone Christmas" delivers a heartwarming, albeit predictable, holiday tale centered on a telepathic puppy named Murphy. Released in 2016, the film follows two brothers who discover the extraordinary abilities of their new canine companion just as he becomes the target of a high-stakes government manhunt. The plot, featuring the CIA and FBI in pursuit of a pint-sized Jack Russel Terrier, injects a dose of espionage into the festive season. While the premise leans into a familiar blend of family-friendly adventure and Christmas spirit, the narrative is bolstered by the genuine bond between the boys and their remarkable dog. The film, starring Jaret Sacrey, Zachary Cirino, and Dominique Swain, aims to capture the magic of the holidays, showcasing how resourcefulness and the 'real spirit of Christmas' can overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. Despite a modest reception, indicated by its IMDb rating, "A Doggone Christmas" offers a light-hearted diversion for families looking for a festive film with a touch of the extraordinary.
