TO THE BEAT!

Cinemavixion Review

In 'To the Beat!', director Jillian Clare crafts a vibrant narrative centered on sibling rivalry and the universal language of dance. The film introduces us to twins Mia and Mackie, whose distinct passions for tap and jazz respectively, are tested when a pop star announces an online dance competition. The story unfolds with a charming depiction of youthful ambition as the sisters form their own teams, rallying friends and family to gain online votes. This energetic premise is further complicated by their neighbor Avery, whose competitive spirit and resources add a compelling layer of conflict. While the film captures the excitement of competition, it also subtly explores themes of collaboration and the joy of pursuing a shared passion. The performances by Laura Krystine and Brisa Lalich as the twins, alongside Jayden Bartels as Avery, bring a relatable authenticity to their characters' journeys. 'To the Beat!' is a spirited celebration of dance, teamwork, and familial bonds, offering an engaging watch for audiences of all ages.
