Roger Corman's 1959 black comedy, "A Bucket of Blood," remains a sharp, satirical jab at the art world and the fickle nature of artistic acclaim. Dick Miller delivers a memorable performance as Walter Paisley, a hapless beatnik whose accidental creation of a plaster-covered cat sculpture catapults him to artistic fame. The film cleverly uses Paisley's subsequent 'creative process' – a series of increasingly desperate and deadly acts – to expose the superficiality and hypocrisy often found in bohemian circles. Corman, with screenwriter Charles B. Griffith, masterfully blends horror elements with biting social commentary, creating an entertaining and thought-provoking piece that still resonates today.
