3 NUTS IN SEARCH OF A BOLT

Cinemavixion Review

In the realm of 1960s sex comedies, "3 Nuts in Search of a Bolt" offers a peculiar, albeit somewhat thin, premise driven by Mamie Van Doren's star power. Directed by and starring Tommy Noonan, the film presents a convoluted scheme where an unemployed actor is hired by three disparate individuals—a stripper, a used car salesman, and a male model—to pose as their psychiatric proxy. The narrative plays on the absurdity of this setup, exploring themes of identity and desperation with a light, often farcical, touch. While the plot may stretch credulity, Van Doren injects a necessary charisma into her role, navigating the comedic situations with a veteran's flair. The film, despite its modest IMDb rating, serves as a curious artifact of its era, capturing a specific brand of humor that, while dated, still holds a certain camp appeal for those interested in the genre's eccentricities.
