ZEDER

Cinemavixion Review

Pupi Avati's 1983 film 'Zeder' delves into a chilling supernatural premise, presented through the eyes of Stefano, a journalist. His discovery of a mysterious typewriter, with its ribbon revealing fragments of a past narrative, sets the stage for a compelling mystery. The story unravels the tale of a scientist who stumbled upon a terrifying secret: certain soils possess the power to reanimate the dead. Avati masterfully blends elements of horror and mystery, creating an atmosphere of dread and suspense. The film is a unique exploration of mortality and the unsettling consequences of meddling with the natural order, anchored by a strong performance from Gabriele Lavia in a role that probes the darker corners of human curiosity and scientific ambition.
