YOUTH RETREAT TURNS SINISTER

Cinemavixion Review

This intriguing comedy thriller, 'Youth Retreat Turns Sinister,' plunges seven affluent Roman youths into a psychological spiral during what was meant to be a carefree countryside retreat. As hidden prophecies and buried resentments surface, the film masterfully weaves giallo aesthetics with a palpable sense of millennial dread. Director Sasha Alessandra Carlesi uses the confined setting to expose the dark undercurrents of privilege, betrayal, and suppressed fears among the group. The narrative skillfully unravels secrets, transforming a weekend getaway into a tense exploration of the characters' fractured relationships and inner turmoil. It's a compelling watch that delves into the unsettling consequences when facade meets reality.
