WITNESSING BUDDHISM'S IMPACT ON EAST ASIAN CULTURE | PARABLE

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary embarks on a fascinating intellectual journey, following screenwriter Frederic Raphael as he navigates the complex terrain of faith and spirituality at the cusp of the new millennium. The film presents a unique exploration of global religions, moving from the historical weight of Jerusalem to the serene philosophies of Buddhism in Asia, the deep-rooted traditions of Catholicism in Spain, and the fervent expressions of Puritanism and fundamentalism in the USA. Raphael's quest is framed not just as a spiritual search, but as a detective-like investigation into the very nature of belief, dogma, and their relevance in the modern world. The approach, blending personal pilgrimage with critical inquiry, offers viewers a thoughtful and expansive perspective on humanity's enduring search for meaning and connection.
