WISHES

Cinemavixion Review

Tyler Maddox's "Wishes" offers a whimsical, albeit brief, exploration of transformation and desire. The narrative centers on Carrie, a character feeling marginalized, whose life takes an extraordinary turn with the appearance of Jeanie, a centuries-old entity from a magic lamp. The premise promises a unique blend of fantasy and social commentary, as Carrie is granted ten wishes. Tiffany Haddish and Vanessa Bednar anchor the film, bringing a certain charm to their roles. While the external data suggests a 2014 release and a runtime of 80 minutes, the film's compact nature allows for a brisk pace. "Wishes" is a charming diversion, inviting viewers to ponder the consequences of unchecked desires and the potential for self-reinvention, even in the most unconventional of circumstances.
