Sammo Kam-Bo Hung's "Winners and Sinners" bursts onto the screen with a kinetic energy that belies its straightforward premise. The film follows a group of former inmates attempting a clean slate, only to be hilariously and violently thrust into the dangerous world of Triad conflict. Hung, who also directs and stars, masterfully orchestrates a blend of slapstick comedy and thrilling martial arts sequences, a signature of Hong Kong cinema during its golden age. The ensemble cast, including the ever-charismatic Jackie Chan, delivers performances that are both charming and physically impressive. Each character brings a unique comedic timing to the group dynamic, making their predicament all the more engaging.
