WINIFRED MEEKS

Cinemavixion Review

Jason Figgis's "Winifred Meeks" plunges viewers into the atmospheric confines of a remote English farmhouse, a setting ripe for the creation of teen crime novels, as embodied by successful writer Anna James. The narrative cleverly intertwines Anna's creative process, driven by a looming deadline, with the spectral presence of Winifred Meeks, the former lady of the house. As Anna researches the property's history to fuel her writing, she inadvertently uncovers a more profound and unsettling connection to the tragic spirit. The film masterfully builds suspense, blurring the lines between fiction and the supernatural, as Anna moves closer to a disturbing confrontation. This exploration of a writer's immersion into her subject matter, haunted by the past, offers a compelling psychological thriller that lingers long after the credits roll.
