This documentary, "WILD AMERICA: VALLEY OF THE ELK" from 1985, offers a glimpse into the majestic world of elk in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Directed by Marty Stouffer, the film explores the life of these impressive members of the Deer family, noting their proud bearing and distinctive antlers. The narrative highlights the historical presence of elk across the land and contrasts it with their current confinement to western mountains, emphasizing their growing reliance on human management. The documentary specifically delves into the controversial situation surrounding the National Elk Refuge, a key location for understanding the challenges faced by these animals.
