WILD AMERICA: MINNESOTA MINK

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary from Marty Stouffer plunges viewers into the often-overlooked world of the American Mink, a creature more commonly associated with luxury fashion than its complex natural behaviors. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Lake Superior, the film offers an intimate look at a mother Mink's life. We witness her adeptness in aquatic environments, drawing parallels to the otter, and her fierce terrestrial spirit, reminiscent of a wolverine. The documentary doesn't shy away from the mink's unique defense mechanisms, highlighting its pungent scent when threatened. More than just a study of survival, the film captures the essential cycles of hunting, mating, and rearing a family, providing a nuanced portrait of this fascinating mustelid.
