WHY HADRIAN WAS THE GREATEST ROMAN EMPEROR OF ALL TIME

Cinemavixion Review

Dan Snow delves into the complex legacy of Hadrian, presenting a compelling argument for his status as one of Rome's most exceptional emperors. The documentary navigates the multifaceted nature of Hadrian's reign, highlighting his adeptness as a peace-maker and his ambitious frontier-building projects, such as the iconic Hadrian's Wall. Snow also explores the emperor's passions, touching upon his architectural endeavors and his personal life, including a significant, albeit star-crossed, romance. However, the narrative does not shy away from the darker aspects of his rule, acknowledging his role as a ruthless oppressor, particularly concerning the Jewish population. Despite these contradictions, Snow ultimately posits that Hadrian's profound impact on the Roman Empire solidifies his place among its greatest leaders, offering a nuanced perspective on a figure often defined by extremes.
