WHY DID THE VIKINGS MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEAR FROM GREENLAND?

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary embarks on a fascinating dual journey: one, a modern re-enactment of the perilous Norse voyage to North America aboard the longship Draken, and two, an exploration into the enigmatic disappearance of Viking settlements from Greenland. The narrative skillfully weaves together the crew's contemporary struggles against the unforgiving North Atlantic – battling freezing temperatures and treacherous ice fields – with historical inquiry. It probes the enduring mystery of the Greenland Norse, presenting intriguing theories such as prolonged drought rather than a harsh ice age as the potential catalyst for their demise. As the Draken inches closer to its destination, the parallels between ancient and modern challenges become starkly apparent, highlighting the immense bravery and resourcefulness required for such an undertaking. The film compellingly argues for the feasibility of the Vikings' epic crossing, making for an engaging watch that satisfies both the thirst for adventure and historical curiosity.
