WHEN MINES COLLAPSE: SURVIVAL AGAINST ALL ODDS | CAVE IN

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary plunges into the perilous world of mining, highlighting the inherent dangers faced by those who extract resources from deep within the earth. It vividly portrays the constant threat of cave-ins and explosions, emphasizing that a miner's survival often hinges on their sheer will to live in environments with "perpetual night" and "seldom second chances." The film commendably shifts focus to the heroic efforts of global rescue teams who have saved countless lives. Furthermore, it addresses the often-overlooked reality of coal mining in the context of climate change, acknowledging its continued necessity as an energy source despite its environmental impact and the ongoing hazards for its workforce. A stark reminder of a dangerous profession and the resilience of the human spirit.
