WESTBROOK - EP 1

Cinemavixion Review

This powerful docudrama plunges viewers into the harrowing reality of Australia's past, specifically the Westbrook Farm Home in Queensland during the 1950s and '60s. The episode unflinchingly recounts the brutal experiences of young boys and orphans subjected to unimaginable torment, sexual abuse, and physical torture. Through the courageous testimonies of nine survivors, their stories of floggings, deprivation, and sadistic treatment by Superintendent Isaac Roy Golledge and his officers are brought to life with gritty, confronting re-enactments. The narrative traces the devastating impact of this 'hell hole,' showing how pain transformed innocent boys into scarred men, their desperate cries echoing from the windswept plateau. The episode also follows the lonely journeys of some victims into adult prisons, offering a stark and essential historical record of institutional cruelty and its lasting scars.
