WEST OF THE PECOS

Cinemavixion Review

Edward Killy's "West of the Pecos" offers a classic Western narrative, set against the stark beauty of the desert landscape. The film centers on Colonel Lambeth and his daughter Rill, whose journey west is interrupted by a chance encounter with Pecos and Chito. This meeting embroils them in Pecos' dangerous feud with the vengeful Sawtelle, the leader of the vigilantes. The plot unfolds with a familiar yet engaging rhythm, exploring themes of justice and unintended consequences. While the external data notes a runtime of 66 minutes, suggesting a concise storytelling approach, the core elements of a compelling Western are present. The performances, particularly those of Robert Mitchum, Barbara Hale, and Richard Martin, anchor the story, bringing depth to the archetypal characters. "West of the Pecos" is a solid entry in the Western genre, worth exploring for its straightforward storytelling and atmospheric setting.
