WEST OF THE DIVIDE

Cinemavixion Review

Robert N. Bradbury's "West of the Divide" plunges viewers into the rugged landscape of the American West, offering a classic tale of revenge and familial conflict. John Wayne, in an early role, embodies the stoic cowboy Ted Hayden, driven by a potent desire to avenge his father's murder. The narrative cleverly unfolds as Ted infiltrates the outlaw gang responsible, only to confront a shocking revelation: his long-lost brother leads the very organization he seeks to dismantle. This dramatic turn forces a compelling moral quandary, pitting loyalty against the pursuit of justice. The film benefits from Bradbury's straightforward direction and the palpable chemistry of its cast, including the ever-reliable George 'Gabby' Hayes. While not a grand spectacle, "West of the Divide" delivers a tightly plotted Western with emotional resonance, showcasing the early promise of its legendary star.
