WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST

Cinemavixion Review

Bert I. Gordon's "War of the Colossal Beast" from 1958 remains a curious entry in the giant monster genre. While its modest production values and B-movie sensibilities are evident, the film delivers a surprisingly somber narrative about a man transformed into a monstrous, 60-foot behemoth. The plot, which sees the titular "Colossal Man" go insane and disfigured after a military experiment, explores themes of alienation and the tragic consequences of unchecked scientific ambition. Sally Fraser and Roger Pace lead the cast, navigating the perilous encounters with their increasingly uncontrollable creation. Despite its age, the film offers a unique, albeit campy, perspective on the monstrous "other," making it a noteworthy watch for enthusiasts of classic sci-fi and horror.
